TOEFL: TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE :

TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language is a standardized English proficiency test that assesses English Language skills in the areas of listening, reading, writing and speaking. Candidates desirous of pursuing further studies as undergraduate of graduate levels are required to take TOEFL to demonstrate their English proficiency

TEST FORMAT :

TOEFL has 4 sections, which are Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.

Listening 60 – 90 minutes 34 – 51 questions Listen to lectures, classroom discussions and conversations, then answer questions.

Speaking 20 minutes 6 tasks Express an opinion on a familiar topic,; speak based on reading and listening tasks.
Writing 50 minutes 2 tasks Write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks; support an opinion in writing.
SCORING :

Each section of TOEFL is graded on a scale of 0 – 30 in 1 point increment. Composite score is addition of all the scores. TOEFL is scored out of 120.80+ is considered a good score:
